Office of the University Librarian
Based on a 10/10/2018 meeting with Jeanne Hammer and Kendon Stubbs (MOU also a work in progress), the Library will resurrect In Search of Native Azaleas and make the digital content available by linking from the site to current Library maintained storage and delivery platforms. Specific work includes:
- Introduction: remove the handful of unknown characters in the document (also show as errors in page source)
- Acknowledgements: No updates.
- Original Documents: update links to point to XTF version of the documents.
- Site Search: remove outdated search. Enable searching across the collection in VIRGO, similar to functionality in place for WSLS, and provide a link to that search from the site.
- Photographs: Recover images, determine where to home them (Virgo and Artstor have been suggested), and link to the new home from the site.
- Links: Replace targets with Wayback locations to preserve access and limit maintenance.
- Shrinkwrap the result in a Preservation environment.
Long term, it is the intention that the Library will maintain the content and access via our ever evolving infrastructure, updating the site links accessing the content as necessary.
Jeanne Hammer noted that use of the Rhododendron fund would be appropriate from the Society’s perspective, if the Library chose to use the fund for any aspect of this work.
